Today, 5th July 2022, we said goodbye to Rev. Fr. Peter Kasonkanji who died on 3rd July 2022 at Kamuzu Central Hospital in Lilongwe after a long time of illness. Fr. Kasonkanji died at the age of 67. He was ordained a priest on 4th August 1984.
The funeral mass at Bembeke Cathedral was attended by hundreds of Christians, fellow priests, sisters and religious brothers. The Solemn Mass began at 10:00 am and was celebrated by His Lordship Peter Adrian Chifukwa.
As per the various eulogies, Fr. Kasonkanji was a priest who loved his vocation. He was always encouraging people to keep and grow their faith. He was also a living encyclopedia for the Diocese of Dedza, as he knew the history of the Diocese of Dedza from A to Z. Fr. Kasonkanji was also a friend of the needy and the elderly. His demise is therefore a big loss to the Bishop of Dedza Diocese, the Clergy and the entire Christian body in the diocese and beyond.

Special Prayer for Rev. Fr. Peter Kasonkanji
O God, Thou didst raise Thy servant, Peter Kasonkani to the sacred priesthood of Jesus Christ, according to the Order of Melchisedech, giving him the sublime power to offer the Eternal Sacrifice, to bring the Body and Blood of Thy Son Jesus Christ down upon the altar, and to absolve the sins of men in Thine own Holy Name.
We beseech Thee to reward his faithfulness and to forget his faults, admitting him speedily into Thy Holy Presence, there to enjoy forever the recompense of his labours.
This we ask through Jesus Christ Thy Son, our Lord.
